I first heard of Union Jack when I saw them at the old Club New in Miami Beach in about '96. They had bongos out, Jamming. Vibe was unbelievable. Kids were battling to drum and base in the "chill out" room. Anyways, this record is a classic!

The true definition of trance, have always loved the long wait for that epic breakdown, if you only own one trance tune.....this should be it. Right that's got that out of the way, I'm off to stick it on the old trusty turntables.

I'm quite speechless when it comes to describing this release. Two legendary, monumental tracks. The definition of Platipus' sound. 15 minutes of utmost TRANCE. First, Two Full Moons and A Trout. Could have been a Sergio Leone's title. I know everyone loves the Casper Pound remix, but to me it's a totally different track, only reusing the vocal choir... The original is as worthy as the praised remix. It's like a fresco depicting the energy of nature with infinite creativity. Incredible drive and depth, unequalled build-up and tension. The chopping of the (bulgarian) chant is so trippy ! Add to that all the little samples put everywhere, and a remarkable (dramatic) final, and you get a rewarding journey of nearly 10 minutes.Now, it was hard already for me to describe the A side... but, as you can see in the previous reviews, the B side manages to even top it. LOLLYPOP MAN. I have no words. This is just angelic, delicate, pure heaven. I just see a fresh new morning in the sunny and happy white fields of love, after all the sins have been removed... Goodbye my friends, I'm lost in paradise.

Funny isn't it. I always considered every remix of this masterpiece inferior. The Casper Pound especially average (Casper was such an overrated producer anyway, in on his connections and certainly not on merit.)

I agree with TIM, Lollipop is the tune that stays in mind over all these years. I feel Platipus has a more distinct position amongst other trance labels from this time, Simon Berry kept his stuff here and few if any artists from other european labels released too much on Platipus. This is an absolutley iconic release and later releases kept the originality there.

Wat!?

Probably Platipus Records most known release (except for that song called Children who was the Sandstorm of the 90's. Crap song there). While Two Full Moons and a Trout is certainly memorable and one the most standout tracks of trance heyday it's Lollypop Man that is where its at for me. Starts out very dark and ominous with a very slight sign that there is a light to this tunnel. Excellent individual sounds combine to a very unique journey. I don't like to use the word journey for fear I might be upducted by shitty Goa trance fans to the next Burning Man festival but this is indeed a start to a journey of some sorts. Pre-goa and pre-cheese that was in goa. Mr.C used this to open up his sublime epic mix in the 1st Psychotrance. Not only because of that terrific mix but this song in general is a fantastic trance song. Easily in my top 20 trance songs of all time. They don't make em like this anymore fellas.

In my opinion one of the alltime top 50 tunes of any dance genre ever. The last minute of this song will simply destroy a dancefloor. As deep and melodic as they come with unsurpassed power at the end. I always classifed this record as new-age trance. A song with true new-age melody and depth with the power and pace of trance. Truly one of a kind.
