David Cortabarria Arregui We need more works from Ladytron, it's just as simple as this: I love this album and above all the powerful and mesmerizing track The Animals. An album of pure bliss, magic and wonder. Here goes my wishful thinking: an album of Ladytron with Brian Eno, so the circle would be opened to new sonic beauty. Every Ladytron album has a few extremely low points, and on Ladytron those are Run a part two to The Animals, not a particularly necessary one and Paper Highways the first part is great, as if wrought from iron wreckage, but it veers into a saccharine, completely misplaced chorus, like they handed it to Disney for a second. Much better as a ray of solace is the quietly experimental Tomorrow Is Another Day, getting through a Peter Gabriel-ish beat, a sandblaster of a synth, Jam & Lewis cowbells, and shading chords like disappearing and re-emerging hope. Ladytron is a song by Bryan Ferry, recorded by his band Roxy Music and appearing on their eponymous debut album. The British electronic band Ladytron took their name from this song. The song has distinctive instrumentation, including an oboe solo, liberal use of the mellotron's famous three violins tape set, and much processing of the other instruments by Brian Eno via his VCS3 synthesizer and tape echo. The sound in the start of the song was created by Brian Eno, after Bryan Ferry asked him to. Город: to music from Ladytron like Destroy Everything You Touch, Seventeen & more. Eight years after 2011's Gravity the Seducer, the simply named Ladytron reasserts the fundamentals of the group's music - namely, Marnie's and Mira Aroyo's vocals and the pulsing synths that surround them - and they still sound fresh. Dense, driving, and melodic, Until the Fire is such an immediate opener that it feels like Ladytron never left, and the rest of the album revitalizes the spirit behind their music as well as its style. It was absolutely bad idea to master this album only on 1 disk. Not recommend to buy this release except signed one.Still waiting for reissued version of all Ladytron albums on 2LP*45

Zulkishicage
Wait it sooooooo long, something about 2 years. Sounds good, but agree with others about very low volume range & maybe a bit of poor bitrate. I volume up my cambridge audio at max volume and it still not loud for me, strange magic)

thrust
This sounds great when you crank the volume up to almost twice what you normally play records at!

Heraly
Very anticlimatic to wait for this LP for 20 months, pay the postage twice, only to find that it sounds like it's covered in pig fat. I guess 54min pay time is just too long for one LP. The volume is very low, the sound is muffled and lacks dynamic. Music wise it's a good album, but in this case the digital version sounds way better than the vinyl.

deadly claw
I think I'm lucky, mine has a pretty good sound (lack of treble maybe, but equalizer does it well). B1 "Run" is a bit scratched, but I can't see the mark. When I saw the booklet I laughed at the first line :"Thanks for making this album possible : Leigh Lust & everyone at Pledge Music".

Anyshoun
No amount of cleaning will improve the sound quality of this press. It should have been a double 45rpm 12", instead of one LP crammed with almost 30 minutes per side.As mentioned already, you're better off sticking with the digital files (hell, even the cassette must sound better than this).

Umge
I have to agree that its a very quiet record and on the initial play was quite muted with a lot of surface noise. A good cleaning brightened the sound considerably and it plays fine. I also agree that the wait was way too long but there's not much that could have been done about it. Im actually really pleased to have this and I say "Thanks" to Ladytron for following through with what pledges they could.

Khiceog
? so what is different to the "deluxe" version/CD? >> Ladytron - Ladytron

Taulkree
? so what is different to the regular version/CD?>> Ladytron - Ladytron"Released in gatefold digifile pack." just as this one. What on Earth is a digifile? Sounds like a download thing..

Dikus
Thanks! that explains it - but "digifile pack" is still just a misconception of the one submitting it, surely.

EXIBUZYW
The sleeve of the limited CD is square, the sleeve of the regular CD is more rectangle... the front and back pictures on the sleeve of the limited CD are high glossy, on the regular CD just „printed“... plus the Deluxe has the names of the people that pledged for it in the booklet.

Buge
I still haven't heard the album as I can't remember that I even got any download through pledge besides the singles. I read the reviews on the mastering/sound of the "horrid" black vinyl and that "the album is still good".And now I got the smoked vinyl, the cassette and the deluxe CD - still I don't see what differs from the normal CD edition - and I just can't shake that feeling of disillusion. As they are all sealed it feels better to just leave them like they are. I will still wear the Runaway T-shirt that was salvaged with this slew! :)(but no "special design of the album T-shirt" as Pledge never paid for it's manufacture.)I wonder how big this smoked edition was? Anyone knows?

Pad
Anybody can add test pressing vinyl please ? ...............................................................

Alexandra
It has just been added - You'll find it right here: https://www.discogs.com/Ladytron-Ladytron/release/14028070

Global Progression
The sound is fine and there's no distortion at all, but the volume is very low (probably because of the long playing time) and there's not much dynamic range. Great album and beautiful artwork, but it deserves a better vinyl pressing.

greatest
So I finally got round to buying a copy today (yeah I'm still waiting on my Pledge).I see some mixed reviews below regarding pressing quality. My thoughts? This LP sounds like ass.Having gotten so used to the .wav files, I was expecting something along the same lines with the vinyl. However, my concerns started before I even listened. At around 27 minutes per side, dynamics are going to suffer. True enough, there is very little headspace on this LP.And yes, it does sound very quiet. Hey, usually that won't bother me. I'd prefer a quiet pressing that I have to turn up over a compressed, redline nightmare any day.BUT, the entire record just sounds "flat". There's literally no life to it at all. It's like they just took the CD / digital files and threw them onto vinyl with no adjustment (see here: VNV Nation - Empires)This is a FANTASTIC album from Ladytron. But this pressing, my god it sounds awful.Until they see sense and reissue it on 2x12" at 45rpm (NO BONUS TRACKS, NO ETCHED SIDE D), stick with your digital files.

Whilingudw
- How did you get the pledge coloured vinyl ?

Rrd
- How did you got your Pledge coloured vinyl ?

Wal
Hope you manage to get your copy via Pledge. I'm trying to recoup £41 from a signed Dandy Warhols album Pledge that never came to fruition.

Cia
We need to start a SAVE LADYTRON petition cuz there's some serious disconnect going on and LOTS of people who want to help them...

Мох
Totally agree with you and I have that Pledge coloured vinyl. The songs are fantastic but this is one of the worse vinyl pressings that I've ever heard. As you said, it's flat and has to be turned up really loud to get anything from it. As a result, I rarely spin my copy which is a great shame - the album sounds better on Spotify(!) Here's hoping that they do a repress at some point - unlikely I know but looking forward to catching them live later in the year.

Debeme
fantastic return !excellent album with the vintage sound !recommend !

Kiaile
took a chance and bought this without listening first, no regrets. solid album, great sound!

Bluecliff
A real solid collection of tunes and on par with The Witching Hour - no filler and the pressing is ok-ish. I had an autographed copy shipped from Glasgow and its not black vinyl but a grey splatter transparent one(?)

Bladecliff
Which store in Glasgow did you buy it from ?

Vareyma
Haven't received my signed clear copy until now.Very sad about it.

avishaiThe REAL awkwardness ensued though when pics of the Pledge "Exclusives" began filtering through social media, and us Pledgers hadn't even received an update yet. So anyways, people were NOT happy, and eventually Ladytron's mean manager came our Pledge page to scold us all for starting "unhelpful rumors," and told us "the truth." And anyway that's the last we ever heard from them. You really couldn't make it up. We all paid for the privilege of having signed limited edition copies and they are now being flogged at gigs! What a massive "Fuck You" to the real fans.

Berenn
Fascinating insights and thank you :) What a mess this whole Pledge debacle is and such a shame as this is a really good album. I only paid twenty pounds for this signed pledge exclusive but would have been just as happy with the black pressing. Hoping they will do a few live shows in London as I would love to hear this album live.

Scoreboard Bleeding
ol yeah that's the Pledge "Exclusive," it's a sad story. Apparently, the Glasgow shop that was hosting the signing ran out of stock before Ladytron even arrived. Ladytron's management had a very small number of the Pledge "Exclusives" that were NOT somehow being held hostage in the Packsmart warehouse, that they had set aside for people involved in the making of the album to have, and made the controversial decision to send those to the store so they would have something for the band to sign once they got there, cuz to their mind, it would have been awkward if they didn't. The REAL awkwardness ensued though when pics of the Pledge "Exclusives" began filtering through social media, and us Pledgers hadn't even received an update yet. Vudojar
Hopefully it all settles out regarding PledgeMusic because the album is properly solid and doesn't deserve to be shadowed by anything. The song run is one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces I heard in a while.

Broadraven
Has everyone read the latest update on Pledge ("Accesspass Update 14 February 2019")?Seem that nobody is going to receive ANYTHING that they paid for on Pledge. I bought the signed LP. Some people went further and spent hundreds. The stock that we paid for is sitting in a warehouse, and if Pledge go bust it could be sold off to the highest bidder.Yes, EVERYTHING WE PAID FOR.

Samutilar
Haven't received my signed clear copy until now.Very sad about it.

Gold Crown
I don't think it's fair to fault the band for what's happening at Pledge. They've fulfilled their end of things and now the stock is being held hostage by the fulfillment company as collateral until Pledge pays up. Yes it's a shitty situation but Pledge deserves the full blame for it. The band's hands are tied right now. They're certainly not rolling in money and I don't expect them to go into debt to settle Pledge's debts. In terms of what they're selling at shows, they probably had additional copies pressed to sell at shows. They've probably lost a lot more money over this than any of the fans have and are certainly entitled to try and recoup some of it in any way they can. I can separate the band and the album from the Pledge fiasco...it's a great album and I'm not letting Pledge ruin it for me.

olgasmile
Ladytron as a "band" desperately need a label/management because they obviously just don't give a shit.

Nilabor
maybe the old way of record labels and record shops wasn't so bad afterall....at least you got what you'd paid for...

Nuadazius
Yep, that's me. Trying to disassociate that horrible experience with the album. Cuz it's really good!

Marg
Tengo la duda. Qué lo hace una edición de lujo?

Meri
OK, I know I did a sloppy/rush job on submitting the retail black vinyl version (thanks for picking up my slack guys) but I am DYING to know: what does everything think of the mastering? o.O(Btw imho the album itself is one of their best offerings yet, if not THE best.)

Cktiell
See, I was real curious if the grey mist sounded any louder, so I much appreciate you taking the time to let me know. Hats off to you!

Painwind
I have the grey mist pressing and I'm finding that I'm having to yank the volume up to get any real bass and oomph from it - a very quiet pressing and not a patch on the sonics of the recent white vinyl of Boy Harsher's ' latest album. That said, this is a fine collection of songs but a pity about the mastering.

BlackBerry
I agree the vinyl sounds better than streaming by far! Usually to be fair it is the opposite these days, because advances in technology. However, I still want to modulate the volume up on my table. I think I must going against the wishes of the band. Alas, I was a Pledger, so we are further in conflict.

Vit
For me the vinyl sounds much better than the digital version I listen to on the go on Apple Music, there's more clarity.

SkroN
So judging by the lack of vinyl submissions (I'm typing this on the 8th February 2019), no Pledge subscribers have received theirs yet?I thought the vinyl copies were shipped to arrive on (or around) the 3rd February?

Topmen
The band how now secured the stock that was being held by the distributor who had not been payed by Pledgemusic, and are sending it out to pledgers albeit with an additional charge for postage and handling. If you had ordered via Pledgemusic then you should receive an email over the next week.

Inerrace
Theres photos, and they've even confirmed as much in a pledge update.

Contancia
ThisShouldBeFunLatest Ive seen is that Ladytron is selling OUR signed pledge versions at their shows. Are you sure it's not just the regular black vinyl copies that the band have signed? The pledge ones were coloured.

Kikora
Latest Ive seen is that Ladytron is selling OUR signed pledge versions at their shows. Not to mention they've gone silent about any of this and seem like they could care less. And now I could care less about their record, just want my money back and they've lost me and likely many others as fans.. I was really trying to be patient and give them the benefit of the doubt, but with pledge it IS the artist responsibility to fulfill the project. Especially if they have the merch (and are selling to others instead), they need to get this stuff sent to the pledgers and worry about getting paid back from Pledge later. They've already lied and said we would have it 2 weeks before its available at retail.

Uris
20 years later and Ladytron are still finding label problems! They start off on Invicta Hi-Fi, and the success of 604 brings them to Telstar. Then Telstar go bust.So they sign to Island Records, and they eventually disown the band.At least Nettwerk were good to Ladytron. Now it seems Pledge Music are fucking them around again. How frustrating for the band! Time to resurrect Invicta...

Mushicage
So, I'm a Pledger. I just walked down to my local record store and bought a vinyl copy; ergo, they exist. It's black, not smoke-colored, which was a Pledge "exclusive" and supposedly, according to Ladytron, exists also, in a warehouse in Kenilworth, and they may or may not have signed some. The retail black vinyl doesn't sound great. This whole rollout has been a tragedy all around. What a pity cuz the album itself is solid!

Irostamore
PledgeMusic are having "financial troubles". This has resulted in the now two weeks late unsigned formats being in limbo, sat in a packing factory that wont ship them without payment. Pledge can't pay them and Ladytron never got anything from Pledge, who have mis-managed the funds. The band are signing copies this week, but likewise, they have no fulfilment in place. It's a shocking state of affairs.

Flas
Ladytron Plan to sign The copies of the Vinyl on the 15th when they are together for the 1st time, and Signed copies expected to ship sometime after that :/ One of the things I hate most about pledge music is everything you order has about a year wait on it, or more.

Ylal
I too ordered a Deluxe bundle. The expected fulfilment date on my order via the PledgeMusic site stands at 15th February 2019 at time of writing. I think this sub needs further detail (or scans) for its own credibility.

Getaianne
Issues at Pledge. 'Ladytron' are in discussions with the new GM of Pledge. He has scheduled a meeting with Packsmart, the fulfillment company in the UK, on 8th February and hopes to get orders dispatched 'immediately'.No date on signed copied yet, just later this month.
